Adda—a buzzing Indian restaurant in Long Island City, New York, whose name means “a place where people hang out”—was fully reliant on in-restaurant dining before the pandemic. Since the shutdown, owner Roni Mazumdar and his team have shifted their efforts to delivery as a means to stay open and keep paying staff. “We are dedicating our time to support our team and our community,” says Mazumdar. “We have created a GoFundMe campaign for our team that people can support, plus we are working with Off Their Plate to provide meals to front-line workers, and Rethink Food to support those who are hurting and have recently lost jobs in shelters.” Adda’s website has more details on what they and their customers are doing to help.
